And the winner is … Trendstudie 2011! Alno glass kitchen receives the coveted red dot award
Uniting innovative aesthetics, discerning functions and maximum precision finishes, the glass kitchen from Alno was presented for the first time last autumn going by the name of Trendstudie 2011. It has now been supplemented by a very special quality stamp: in March this year, the international jury comprising renowned experts at Design-Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen voted the glass kitchen as the winner in its category competing for the red dot award: product design 2010.
Pfullendorf, 23 March 2010 - Only a few weeks ago, the glass kitchen received the “iF product design award” from the international Design Forum in Hanover. And now the experts in Essen were also utterly convinced by this innovative design. What’s so unique about this kitchen is the fact that all of the fronts have a consistently satinised brown glass design. With this combination of transparency and wholeness but especially with its use of glass as a trendy material, the Trendstudie 2011 is obviously entirely in line with the spirit of the times. Apart from Alno, glass specialist Schott also pulled out all the stops to ensure an elegant design quality, collaborating with Alno to develop a velvety surface of special safety glass (SatinPlus) for the fronts of the entire kitchen. The third associate in this joint development was represented by Bosch which supplied the household appliances whose partially sand-blasted glass inserts provide for a transition between kitchen furnishings and technology which is as fluid as possible. Without relinquishing the uniform kitchen look, the Trendstudie 2011 is therefore ideally suitable for open-plan merging of living and dining areas.
Stringent assessment criteria
While competing for the coveted red dot award, Alno came up against numerous top-class competitors. This year’s competition saw participation by 1,636 companies from 57 countries presenting 4,252 products, yet another increase on last year. The great reputation enjoyed by this award is attributable to the jury’s stringent assessment criteria. With the result that the Alno glass kitchen not only headed the race in its product category in terms of innovative strength and function - it was also a high scorer as regards ergonomics, durability, quality, handling and safety. What’s more, it was also attributed a high symbolic and emotional content as well as appropriate ecological compatibility. “The red dot is a very valuable award for us”, enthuses Thomas Siber, Director of Product Development at Alno. “It confirms our philosophy of not merely being content with good design and manufacturing quality but always striving for the very best where our products are concerned.”
